The Lucent DSP32C is a 32 bit floating point DSP processor. It runs at 25 Mflops or 40 Mflops (millions of floating point operations per second), depending on clock speed (50 MHz or 80 MHz). Its floating point operation gives it increased it increased dynamic range and precision which make it a versatile processor suitable for general purpose use. It has been popular for speech and audio applications, and is especially widely used in telecommunications.
