Registers

Typical DSP operations require several data operands to be operated upon iteratively. Although DSP processors can access multiple memory accesses simultaneously, memory accesses can still be a bottleneck: so DSP processors have many internal registers which are designed for storing intermediate values without requiring an access to memory.
