Winning Systems

Project Roulette

Introduction

If you have never played roulette or are not totally familiar with playing the game, read Playing Roulette before reading about winning systems.

Every person playing roulette, by definition, has a system of play.  Though for many people, the "system of play" is nothing more than betting on their lucky number or on anniversary or birth dates.  And then you have people that believe if they bet on all of the numbers simultaneously, they can't lose.  For these people, Einstein was indeed correct in saying that roulette is a game that mathematically cannot be won.  Does that mean that all methods are futile attempts?  Is roulette a game that we should stay away from?  If you are planning on gambling anyway, then roulette really isn't that bad of a choice -- especially when compared to other casino games with much worse odds, such as slot machines.  If you have to chose between slots and roulette, I'd have to recommend going with roulette.  There are several reasons for this.  The first is that the house advantage is fixed at 5.26% (unless the wheel is gaffed), whereas the slots are probably more like 20-50% -- you'd be lucky to find a machine that has a house advantage of only 5%.  Second, you have a choice as to how to bet and what you are betting on.  On slots, you only have a choice as to what machine to "give" your money to.

With this in mind, what we will do here in this document is to discuss several systems of play that mathematically will allow you to win and win consistently at roulette.  We will discuss some of the best of the "common" systems and look at the pros and cons, aswell as discuss some of the minor "tweaking" that the player needs to perform to make the systems actually work, and also talk about downfalls and recovering from losing streaks.  We will also discuss the roulette table as a mechanical system and explore some of the less conventional methods of system play, such as detecting a biased wheel, wheel clocking, and even some illegal systems of using computer "devices" to actually predict the numbers that will appear.

As with all information on this website, many things discussed may enter the grey area of legality.  As such, we obviously do NOT promote or advise anyone to use any methods that are illegal under any circumstances.  Therefore, information that can be used illegally, such as the use of "devices" to predict roulette numbers, are for just that -- informational purposes only.  It is here only for the reader to gain a better understanding of how and why things work the way they work.  With that aside, read on and enjoy learning in greater detail how to win at roulette.

Casinos don't care if you use pen and paper to write, calculate, devise, etc.  In fact, many casinos welcome the system player because they know that there are many systems that either don't work at all or that work only if used correctly (and many players use them incorrectly).  So don't worry about using pen and paper, but don't be surprised, especially if you are winning a lot or losing a lot, if the casino operators poke fun at you for using a system to play.  What casinos really want are either systems players that are playing losing systems or a player that just throws out his money on pure chance.  As long as the casinos are making money, they are happy.  However, what casinos frown upon and actually categorize as being "illegal" are what they call "devices".  This means you can't use a calculator or a computer or any other electronic "device" that you devise to predict winning numbers.  Doing so is a good way of getting kicked out of the casino and possibly even spending time in jail.  So don't do it.  If you want to record roulette numbers that appear, simply write them down with pencil and paper.  Some casinos, especially those in Europe, will even provide you with pencil and paper and possibly even a score card to do just that.  In fact, most people in Europe use systems of play and believe that people who don't are fools that will soon be departed of their money.  I for one agree.  Why rely on mere chance when there is a system that may possibly allow you to walk away a winner?

Because I'm a believer in system play, that is why systems are being discussed on this website in the first place.  So play roulette; use one of these systems (or at least some system), but use the system wisely and with caution.  Remember that it is always possible for every system to win and for every system to fail.  The trick is to learn when to play which system.  The best advice I can give about winning is "don't gamble in the first place".  But, if you really want to gamble and enjoy it, then do so -- my advice for you, then, is "stop while you're ahead".  Though if you believe that "winners never quit" and that "quitters never win" then you won't believe that you should stop while you're ahead.  In that case, you shouldn't gamble in the first place :).

Note that since this site is an American site and since it is less confusing to explain everything from the same setup of the game, all of the roulette descriptions you'll find on this site are centered around the American betting layout and American Wheel -- having 38 numbers, 1-36 and 0 and 00, also known as the double-zero wheel.  However, these same systems can all be easily transformed to work with the French or European Wheel, also known as the single-zero wheel.  Though you'll have to do the transformation.
